Postdoctoral Researchers

Dr. Mohammad Kazemi (9/2019 – present)

Mohammad Kazemi received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from the K.N. Toosi University of Technology (Tehran, Iran) in 2007 and 2010, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran, Iran) in 2017, all in electrical engineering. He was a visiting student with Bilkent University, Turkey, in 2015. He was a researcher in MMWCL at Amirkabir University of Technology from 2017 to 2019. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the EE Department at Bilkent University. His research interests are in wireless communications and signal processing, with particular focus on massive MIMO and massive random access systems.

Dr. Javad Haghighat (4/2021 – present)

Javad Haghighat received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Tehran (Tehran, Iran) in 1998 and 2002, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from Concordia University (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) in 2007, all in electrical engineering. He was a postdoctoral fellow at McGill University, and later an Assistant Professor, and an Associate Professor at Shiraz University of Technology, before joining Bilkent University. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the EE Department at Bilkent University. His research interests are in wireless communications and signal processing, with a particular focus on massive random access systems, coding theory, and MAC layer protocols.

Ph.D. Students

Mucahit Gumus (9/17 – present)

Mücahit Gümüş received B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Electrical and Electronics Engineering department of İhsan Doğramacı Bilkent University (Ankara, Turkey) in 2014 and 2017, respectively, and he is continuing for his Ph.D. in the same department. He is also working as a systems engineer in ASELSAN A.Ş., Turkey. His research interests are massive MIMO, wireless communications systems, machine learning, and deep learning.


Mert Ozates (9/2018 – present)

Mert Özateş received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Bilkent University in 2016 and 2018, respectively, in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.  He is pursuing his Ph.D. degree under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Tolga Mete Duman in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in Bilkent University. His research interests include 5G and beyond wireless communication systems with a particular focus on massive MIMO and multiuser communications.

Büşra Tegin (2/2020 – present)

Büşra Tegin received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from Bilkent University in 2017 and 2020, respectively, all in electrical and electronics engineering. She is currently a Ph.D. student at Bilkent University under the supervision of Prof. Tolga M. Duman. Her research interests are in wireless communications.

Mohammad Javad Ahmadi (2/2020 – present)

Mohammad Javad Ahmadi received the B.S. degree (with honors) in electrical engineering in 2013 from Babol Noshirvani University of Technology, Babol, Iran, and the M.Sc. degree in communications in 2015 from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. He is currently a Ph.D. student in the EE Department at Bilkent University. His research interests include adaptive algorithms, estimation theory, machine learning.



M.S. Students

Berke Eren (9/2019 – present)

Berke Eren received his B.S. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bilkent University in 2019. He is currently a graduate student in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bilkent University. He is working with Prof. Tolga M. Duman as a member of Communication Theory and Applications Research (CTAR) at Bilkent. His research interests are machine learning for communications and applications in 5G and beyond. He is a member of 5G R&D department at Türk Telekom.

Sadra Seyedmasoumian Charandabi (9/2019 – present)

Sadra Seyedmasoumian Charandabi is born in Tabriz, Azerbaijan Province, Iran. He has completed his early education in National Organization for Developing Exceptional Talents in Iran. He has received his B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering in 2017 from the University of Tabriz. He is currently an M.S. student at Bilkent University. His main research interests are a wide range of topics in Telecommunications, including, Wireless Communications and Coding Theory. He is currently working on the Communications and Coding Theory in CTAR lab under the supervision of Dr. Tolga Mete Duman at Bilkent University.

Ozan Aygün (9/2020 – present)

Ozan Aygün received the B.S. degree from Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey in 2020. He is currently working towards an M.S. degree in the Department of Electrical and Engineering, Bilkent University. His current research focuses on wireless communications and federated learning.
